In the first quarter of 2021, the wellness app category on Android saw significant user engagement in the United States. Sensor Tower's data gives us a closer look at how five leading wellness apps fared during this period.

Calm - Sleep, Meditate, Relax started the quarter with revenues of approximately $147K, which peaked at around $239K in the second week of January before settling down to roughly $200K by the end of March. Downloads showed a decreasing trend from 89K in the first week of January to 35K by the end of March. Weekly active users peaked at 659K in the first week of January and saw a gradual decrease to 555K by the end of March.

Headspace: Sleep & Meditation showed a steady revenue performance starting at $127K in the last week of December, reaching a high of $172K in mid-January, and ending the quarter at about $115K. The app's downloads saw a peak of 71K in the first week of January but declined to 22K by the end of March. The weekly active users observed a slight decline from 462K in the first week of January to 400K by the quarter's end.

Fabulous Daily Routine Planner witnessed a revenue increase from $26K to $74K in early February, followed by a dip to around $51K by the end of March. The app's downloads hit a high of 29K in the first week of January and saw a decrease to 22K by the end of March. Active users showed an increase from 93K in late December to 122K in late March.

Sleep Sounds - relaxing sounds had modest revenues, starting at $1.2K and growing to $1.1K by the end of the quarter. Downloads for the app peaked at 18K in mid-February and ended at 16K in the last week of March. The weekly active users showed an upward trend from 104K to 123K during the quarter.

Avrora - Sleep Booster, despite being published by a company based in Cyprus, showed a revenue increase from $20K in late December to $31K in mid-March, before a slight drop to $20K by the end of March. Downloads saw a downward trend from 25K in late December to around 15K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users peaked at 177K in late December, with a noticeable drop to 134K by the end of March.
